AUDITIONS

Audition Information

There are no current audition opportunities open.

At BTQ, young artists experience training, rehearsals, and performance, with the same structure and opportunities as that of a professional ballet company. This is more than just a stage opportunity; it’s an immersive experience designed for passionate dancers ready to take their artistry to the next level. From company class and rehearsals, theatre etiquette, stage make-up and hair education to full-scale productions, dancers will experience the rhythm of a true company life. With mentorship from seasoned professionals, rigorous training, and the thrill of live performance, this is your chance to grow, shine, and be part of something extraordinary.

SECONDMENTS & SCHOLARSHIPS
At BTQ, our mission extends beyond professional performance opportunities—we’re committed to creating career pathways for our dancers.

Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors, we’re able to forge partnerships with leading ballet training organisations across Australia and the world, and we look forward to sharing our Secondment opportunities for each season as they progress.

Alice in Wonderland
Rehearsal & Season Information

The Alice in Wonderland company timetable is available here.

The full company Orientation Day is on the 27 July 2025.

Rehearsals are between 9am and 5pm at the BTQ studios at 57 Hayward Street, Stafford. Please note that at some stage during late 2025, we will be relocating to our new home, at 12A Windorah Street, Stafford. Rehearsals begin with company class, taken by The Artistic Director, Rehearsal Director or a professional guest artist, often accompanied by a pianist. The remainder of the day is split up into rehearsals for the Alice in Wonderland production.

Two weeks of intensive rehearsals are scheduled:
21–27 September (the first week of the September School Holidays)
12–17 January (the week before the performance season in January)
These rehearsals are compulsory.

BTQ’s season of seven to eight performances at the QPAC utilises all dancers in multiple casts, giving every dancer the opportunity to perform a variety of roles.

The Alice in Wonderland Company Dancers will be rehearsing and performing at QPAC from 19–25 January 2026.

Video Audition Information

Ballet Theatre Queensland

VIDEO AUDITION INFORMATION
In person auditions are preferable, however video auditions are available if you are unable to attend on the day. To be considered, applications, audition fees and videos must be submitted prior to the audition date. The video must include:
– No more than 10 minutes of footage.
– Barre Work: Plies, tendus, adage and grand battement.
– Center work: Adage, center practice including pirouettes or pirouette preparation, warm-up allegro, and grand allegro (Junior level and above)

Intermediate and Senior
-Pointe work: echappes and releves, center practice including a pose arabesque and pose pirouettes en diagonal (if studied prior) OR a classical variation en pointe.
We aim to make this process as simple as possible, so students can be filmed during their regular classes, studio and teachers permitting. The video does not have to be high quality, just clearly showing the movement of the dancer not too far from the camera. No special filming techniques required.

Videos are to be sent as an accessible Youtube or Vimeo link. Straight Mp4 or any other formats will not be accepted. Links are to be included in the application form. Any missing information or unlabeled videos will not be accepted. Please ensure you have submitted your application and state ‘video application’ in the form.
