For over eight decades, BTQ’s costumes have been crafted by visionary designers, devoted wardrobe teams, and generations of artisans whose hands bring each story to life. From the early tutus sewn by Phyllis Danaher, to the fantasy creations of Max Hurley and Theda Lowe, to Carmel Wenck’s modern masterpieces and our very own Rebekah Ellis’s extraordinary visions, our costumes remain at the heart of the magic seen onstage.
This season, we are celebrating their remarkable artistry with our Costume Campaign, supporting the tools, materials and creative work that bring our productions to life. We need your help to ensure these makers of magic can continue creating the wonder our audiences cherish, and we invite you to make a donation today.
How your support helps
Helps purchase the essentials that hold every costume together.
Supports the fabrics that move with our dancers.
Adds the detail, sparkle, and story to each design.
Supports the archiving, restoration, and long-term care of BTQ’s costume heritage.
Plays a key part in producing the costumes that bring our characters to life.
Helps create a lead character’s costume that carries the story, including recognition alongside the costume in our Snow White 2026 programme.
Your gift helps preserve, create, and celebrate the extraordinary costumes that shape every BTQ production.
Every donation ensures our designers and wardrobe team can continue creating the wonder our audiences cherish, and the costumes that make our productions magical.

A note from our head of wardobe
“Being the head of Ballet Theatre Queensland’s wardrobe team means carrying forward more than eight decades of artistry, imagination and meticulous craft. Every costume we create is built on the legacy of the makers who came before us, from the hand-stitched tutus of our earliest years to the iconic designs that have shaped generations of dancers. To me, this work is a privilege because each bead, seam and silhouette helps bring a story to life. When people contribute to our costume appeal, they are not just supporting fabric and thread. They are joining the long line of makers who ensure BTQ’s magic continues onstage for the next generation.”
