Hansel & Gretel

Hansel & Gretel
On Sale June 19

A delectable new take on a timeless fairytale classic.

Inspired by the Brothers Grimm’s beloved tale, Ballet Theatre Queensland’s brand new production of Hansel & Gretel follows two siblings who lose their way in an enchanted forest and are drawn ever deeper into its colourful, unpredictable world. As they search for a path home, Hansel and Gretel encounter woodland creatures and curious characters, with each step leading them further from the familiar. Lured by the scent of something sweet, they arrive at a sparkling gingerbread house, dripping and sumptuous, and impossible to resist. Yet within this deliciously deceptive candyland lives the Witch, whose inviting world holds more than it first reveals.

What begins as a tempting adventure soon becomes a test of cleverness and courage, as Hansel and Gretel must rely on each other to find their way free. Rich in theatrical magic and visual detail, this brand-new production draws audiences into every twist and turn of this timeless story, featuring all new choreography and an original musical score, from the creative team that brought you Snow White (2025 & 2026) and Alice in Wonderland (2026). A truly sweet treat of a ballet, Hansel & Gretel promises to be a production audiences won’t want to miss.
